Naples, ME Basement Sealed with FlexiSpan & Polyurethane Injection
Challenge
A homeowner in Naples, ME owned a basement which had cracks forming along two of the walls. Not wanting a basement floor covered with water, this homeowner was seeking ways to prevent leakage through these holes. To have their basement sealed, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they got to work on the basement right away. To seal the first of the two cracks, we used a Polyurethane Injection. This begins with a preliminary layer of sealant applied over the crack, with plugs placed along the crack as the sealant was applied. After the sealant dried, we removed the ends of the plugs, injecting Polyurethane in through them, filling the interior of the crack. With the ends of the plugs replaced, the Polyurethane will spread and dry in place, sealing the crack from the inside.
Moving to the other crack, a different process was required to seal it. To seal this crack, we used a three step FlexiSpan setup to cover the crack. To begin, a primary layer of sealant was applied inside the crack. Over the top of this, a foam matting was laid. This mat gives the FlexiSpan a flexible nature, allowing it to conform to future shifts in the crack shape. Finally, a second layer of sealant was used to cover the entire structure, completing the FlexiSpan. Once dry, the FlexiSpan will seal out any future moisture attempting to leak in through this foundation.
With the seals in place, this home is now safe from future leakage. This basement will remain dry for many years into the future.
