Water Build Up in Otisfield, ME Basement
Challenge
A homeowner in Otisfield, ME was having trouble with water building up in their basement. Even though they had a concrete foundation, moisture was still leaking in through the pores in the floor. To prevent this leakage in the future, the homeowner contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
As soon as the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement floor right away. To deal with the moisture leaking in through the floor, we needed to place a barrier in the middle. We excavated a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor around the basement. Then, within this trench, we laid 64 feet of WaterGuard piping, covering it over with a fresh layer of concrete. Within the floor, the WaterGuard piping will capture any and all water leaking in through the pores. This trapped water is then transported through the pipes to the sump for removal.
Within this basements sump, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device houses three pumps, each for removing water at different times. The primary pump handles the bulk of the water. The secondary pump takes over for the primary if the primary fails for any reason, handling the water until the primary pump is repaired if need be. The third and final pump is a battery-operated backup pump. This device keeps the basement free of water even when the home loses power. The water being removed by the TripleSafe is pumped out of the home through a PVC discharge line.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner can now rest assured their home will remain dry, even in a storm heavy enough to knock out the power. The WaterGuard & TripleSafe combination is powerful enough to handle any storm.
