WaterGuard Piping Protects Bar Harbor, ME Basement From Leakage
Challenge
With a leaking concrete foundation, a Bar Harbor homeowner was in need of assistance. Using the space for storage, this homeowner needed their basement protected from moisture before any more rain fell. To have the project completed the right way, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home they began work right away on the concrete foundation. To prevent further leakage, we began by digging a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. Within this trench we laid 85 feet of WaterGuard piping. These pipes, buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, will now capture the moisture as it travels through the foundation. This water is guided through the pipes to the sump for removal.
Inside the sump we installed a SmartSump sump pump to handle the water removal. This device will force the collected water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. This line carries the water a distance from the home before depositing it onto the ground far enough from the home to no longer be able to cause problems for the homeowner. Right where the discharge line exits the home we attached an IceGuard pipe segment. This piece has special holes built in which allow for trapped water to escape. This prevents an overflow in the sump in the event of an ice blockage.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner now has no need to worry about a leaking basement. The WaterGuard piping will ensure this basement remains dry for many years to come!
