Protecting Vassalboro, ME Basement from Water Damage
Challenge
A struggling Vassalboro, ME homeowner was in need of some basement waterproofing. With a leaking concrete foundation, the homeowner was unsure how to stop the problem on their own. To solve this problem right away, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they were able to begin work right away on the basement. To put an end to the leakage through the pores of the concrete, our crew dug out a shallow trench into the floor of the basement. Within this trench, WaterGuard piping was laid to capture the incoming water from the surrounding soil. These pipes, buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, will guide any captured moisture to the sump for removal from now on.
Within the sump of the basement, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device contains three pumps, each serving its own purpose. The primary pump takes on the removal of the bulk of the water. The secondary pump is a backup for when the primary pumps fails to handle the water levels for any reason. This enables the pump to be fixed with no down time if needed. The third pump is a battery-operated backup pump for when the home loses power. This will ensure the basement remains water-free even in the harshest storm.
The water from the sump exits the home through a PVC discharge line. Just as this line leaves the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe segment. This piece of piping has special holes built into it which do not affect typical water flow. They do, however, allow for trapped water to escape if ice or debris blocks the line. On the end of the line we attached a LawnScape discharge point. Here, the water is let out onto the lawn a distance from the home.
With these installations complete, this homeowner will never need to worry about their basement leaking again. The WaterGuard piping will protect this basement from moisture for many years to come!
