WaterGuard Protects Camden, ME Basement From Leakage
Challenge
A Camden, ME homeowner was struggling to keep their concrete basement floor dry. Due to the porous nature of concrete, water can easily leak in. Unable to put an end to these leaks, the homeowner needed professional help. To get the job done, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work right away on the floor. To prevent future leaks in this space, we needed to install a barrier between the outside and the inside. This began with a shallow trench being dug into the basement floor, around the outer edge. Within this new trench, we laid WaterGuard piping to act as the barrier. Buried beneath a fresh layer of concrete, these pipes will take in any moisture trying to leak in through the concrete foundation. This water is guided through the pipes to the sump for removal.
To handle the water removal, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. Able to keep up with any amount of water the WaterGuard collects for it, the SuperSump can move over 2,600 gallons of water every hour. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Just outside the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe segment to this discharge line. With the IceGuard in place, if a blockage of ice were to occur in the lower end of the line, the trapped water would escape through special holes in the side of the IceGuard. This prevents an overflow in the sump.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner now longer suffers from a wet basement floor. They can even utilize the space for storage or whatever needs they may have without risking water damage!
