SuperSump Maintains Dry Waldoboro, ME Basement
Challenge
A Waldoboro, ME homeowner recently had some water gathered on their basement floor following a heavy rainfall. This worried the homeowner, because if this continued, their basement could suffer water damage. Without a pump in place, the basement was unprotected. To remedy this, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work right away upgrading the sump to better keep up with incoming water. To do this, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This device can evacuate over 2,600 gallons of water every hour. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. To keep the SuperSump operational even in the harshest storms, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. This battery will enable the SuperSump to keep functioning for up to 11,000 gallons of water worth of pumping before the UltraSump requires a charge.
Following the discharge line outside, our crew made two final additions before they were finished. The first was an IceGuard pipe segment added just outside the home. This piece has special holes built into it, which do not affect typical water flow. Should a blockage appear in the line, such as ice, the holes allow for the trapped water to escape without overflowing the sump. Finally, the water exits the line through an IceGuard segment added onto the end of the line. Here, the water is released onto the ground far enough from the home to never cause any more problems for this homeowner.
Thanks to their new and improved sump system, this homeowner now has peace of mind during rainstorms. Even if the home were to lose power, no rainwater will be building up in this basement floor.
