Lincoln, ME Basement Kept Dry with WaterGuard System
Challenge
A homeowner in Lincoln, ME had been suffering for months with a wet basement. Wanting to utilize the space without fear of water damage, the homeowner needed professional help. To get the job done right, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
As soon as our installation crew arrived at the home they began work on the concrete floor. Even though a concrete foundation was surrounding this basement, rainwater was still finding its way in through the pores within the concrete. To stop this water, we excavated a trench into the outer perimeter of the basement floor. We then laid 90 feet of WaterGuard piping down within this trench, burying it beneath a fresh coat of concrete. While inside the floor, this piping will now take in any and all moisture trying to enter the interior of the space.
The water trapped within the WaterGuard will follow the pipes to the sump where it will be removed from the basement. To take on the water-removal, our crew installed a SuperSump sump pump. This device can move up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour, forcing it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Once outside, the water follows the line until it is released onto the ground a safe distance from the home.
Now any rainwater will be carried away from the home, while a dry space is maintained within the basement. Thanks to the WaterGuard piping, this homeowner should never again need to deal with a wet basement in this home.
