Poland, ME Basement Protected from Water Damage with WaterGuard
Challenge
A resident of Poland, ME contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems with a problem. Their concrete foundation beneath their home was leaking water into the basement. This needed to be solved immediately, because this leakage would soon cause water damage to their property. We sent over a crew and got to work!
Solution
Once at the home, the TC Hafford installation crew began work by digging a shallow trench into the perimeter of the basement floor. This trench is where they then laid WaterGuard piping, surrounding the floor in a boundary of piping. Buried beneath a freshly poured concrete, the trench is concealed back into a flat surface. The WaterGuard piping now acts as a barrier separating the outside moisture from the interior of this basement. Any water will become trapped in the WaterGuard, transported to the sump for removal.
Once the water reaches the sump, it is deposited into a SmartSump sump pump which we installed. The SmartSump will then force this water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Now to deal with the existing water in the basement, still lingering in the air, we installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier. This device will pull in the air surrounding it, separating the moisture from the air. The water is passed to the sump for removal, while the dried air is circulated back into the basement. This circulation creates a cycle of moisture-removal until the air within the basement is once again dry!
This new basement system will ensure a dry, healthy atmosphere within this basement. This homeowner is no longer threatened by water damage to their belongings.
