Rumford, ME Basement Upgraded with WaterGuard Piping Addition
Challenge
A couple in Rumford, ME had a basement with a working sump pump. This pump, however, was susceptible to power outages which would leave the basement defenseless. Some of the water entering this basement was also not reaching the sump to be removed to begin with and was still lingering on the floor. To have these problems remedied, the homeowners called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford crew arrived at the home, they were able to begin work right away. To completely prevent water from reaching the surface of the basement floor, we began work by digging a shallow trench into the perimeter of the concrete floor. Within this trench, we laid WaterGuard piping, burying it under a fresh layer of concrete. The WaterGuard pipes will now capture water traveling through the pores in the foundation, channeling this captured water to the sump pump already in the floor.
This pump will now handle the removal of the water handed to it by the WaterGuard. To protect this sump pump from any power outages, maintaining a dry basement, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. The UltraSump will give the pump an extra 11,000 gallons worth of water removal if and when the home loses power. Once the power returns, the UltraSump will recharge automatically, preparing for the next time it is needed to help protect this basement. This sump pump will now continue to function in any weather.
With the WaterGuard and sump upgrade in place, this homeowner will no longer need to fear any water damage within their basement. Even in the harshest storms, this Rumford, ME basement will remain protected from the elements!
