Winthrop, ME Basement Saved from Water Damage with WaterGuard
Challenge
A homeowner in Winthrop, ME had been experiencing water troubles in their basement. With a concrete foundation between the surrounding dirt and the interior of the basement, rainwater was still finding its way into the basement of this home. Due to the pores in concrete, water can still easily slip in. To have these leaks put to an end, this homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement right away. To start, a shallow trench was dug into the floor of the basement, around the exterior edge. This trench was to allow room for our WaterGuard piping to be laid down around the perimeter of the floor. After fresh concrete was poured to seal in the WaterGuard, these pipes will now take in the leaking water before it reaches the interior of the basement.
The water from the WaterGuard is then guided to the sump in the floor, where we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump will help greatly in the water removal, forcing the collected water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can handle any amount of rainwater, with a pumping force of up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour. Once outside the home, the water passes through an IceGuard pipe segment attached to the discharge line. The IceGuard protects the SuperSump from an overflow with the holes built into of the sides of the piece. In the event of a blockage in the line, the water can now escape through these holes.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner will no longer need to suffer from a flooding basement. The new WaterGuard piping will ensure this basement stays dry for many years to come!
