TripleSafe Protects Fairfield, ME Basement from Flooding
Challenge
A couple in Fairfield, ME had been struggling to keep their basement dry during exceptionally heavy rainstorms. Water would gather across the basement floor, and their sump just couldn’t keep up with it. Tired of manually pumping the water out, the homeowner decided to call TC Hafford Basement Systems to get the job done.
Solution
Once we arrived at the home, we could clearly see that without a pump, the sump was going to continue to cause problems for the homeowners. To remedy this situation, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump in the basement floor. The TripleSafe gets its name from the three pumps within it. The first handles the bulk of the water. The secondary pump will activate if the primary fails for any reason, continuing to remove water while the primary is repaired. The third pump is a battery-operated backup pump. This pump will ensure the basement remains dry even when the home is without power.
The water is forced out of the home by the pumps through a PVC discharge line. This line carries the water away from the home where it is deposited onto the ground at a safe distance. This way none of the water being removed will have a chance to flow back into the basement. Just as this line left the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe segment to it. This piece of pipe has angled holes built in which do not affect normal water flow. The holes protect the sump from an overflow in the event of ice blocking the line.
With their new sump pump in place, this couple can now utilize their basement without fear of flooding. Their days of manual pumping are over for good!
