Rockland, ME Basement Protected From Flooding With WaterGuard
Challenge
A homeowner in Rockland, ME had been having water leak into their basement. With a sump, the water should have exited, but it was lingering on the floor surface. With a concrete foundation, the homeowner needed this problem addressed before any long-term damage was sustained. To get the waterproofing done right, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford crew arrived at the home, they began work right away on the basement. Because water was leaking in through the foundation, the homeowner was unable to stop the leaks themselves. Our crew began by digging a trench into the basement floor, around the perimeter. Within this trench, we laid down WaterGuard piping. The WaterGuard will capture any water leaking in through the floor from now on. This trench was then filled in the rest of the way with cement to seal the pipes within the floor.
Any water trapped within the WaterGuard piping is then guided through to the sump, where we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump can move up over 2,600 gallons of water every hour, forcing the water out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The water is carried out and away from the home through this line. Now any water attempting to leak into this basement will end up flowing out of the home through the SuperSump.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner can now rest assured their home will remain dry. The WaterGuard piping will maintain a dry basement floor for many years to come!
