WaterGuard Piping Protects Hampden, ME Basement
Challenge
A couple in Hampden, ME had been struggling with a wet basement for years. Needing the space for storage, the water needed to be dealt with. Unable to stop the leaks on their own, the couple contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to waterproof the basement properly.
Solution
With a concrete foundation in place, this home was still susceptible to water leaking in directly through the pores in the concrete. To prevent any more water from reaching the floor surface, the TC Hafford crew began by digging a shallow trench into the basement floor, running around the outside perimeter. Within this trench we laid WaterGuard piping. Buried under a fresh layer of cement, the WaterGuard will now capture any moisture working its way into the basement.
The water trapped within the WaterGuard will be guided to the sump within the basement. This sump, however, is not doing much to keep the basement free of water. To help with this, we installed a SuperSump sump pump which the WaterGuard feeds directly into. This pump will force the collected water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump has a pumping force of up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. Now the sump will certainly be able to keep up with any water leaking into this basement.
With their new basement system in place, this couple can now utilize their basement for whatever needs they may have. No more water will be gathering on this Hampden, ME basement floor!
