Fresh Slab & WaterGuard Piping Protect Caribou, ME Basement

Challenge

A homeowner in Caribou, ME owned a dirt basement which would always flood after rainfall. This began to cause a smell inside the home, which the homeowner had to suffer through. Wanting the basement to be protected from this water, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Solution

Once the TC Hafford crew arrived at this home, they went down into the basement and began work right away. To start, they needed to cover the dirt with a concrete slab. A fresh slab was poured over the top of the floor. While pouring this slab, a WaterGuard piping system was installed around the outer perimeter of the basement floor. When the slab is complete, water might still be able to pass through the pores. The WaterGuard prevents this by capturing the water as it travels through the floor, guiding it out of the home through the sump in the basement.

With a new concrete floor in place, and WaterGuard piping inside the slab to handle leaks, this basement should remain water-free for many years to come. This homeowner will no longer need to put up with the musty smell of a damp basement.
