SuperSump Saves Ellsworth, ME Home From Water Damage
Challenge
A couple in Ellsworth, ME had been dealing with basement troubles for some time. The basement to their home would regularly take on water which would exit through the sump, however, the sump was starting to overflow from time to time, causing water problems for the homeowners. To stop this problem before it got any worse, the homeowners called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Having a sump with no pump can lead to the sump becoming overwhelmed by water. Once our crew arrived, they began by installing a SuperSump sump pump within the floor of this basement. The SuperSump has a pumping rate of 2,650 gallons of water per hour. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump will be more than powerful enough to deal with any amount of rainwater leaking onto this basement floor.
Outside the home, we made two additions to the discharge line. On the end of the line, we added a LawnScape discharge point. Here the water is let out onto the ground far enough from the home to no longer cause problems. We then attached an IceGuard pipe section to the line just as it exits the home. This piece has special holes built into the sides which allow for trapped water to escape. Now if ice or other debris blocks the line, the SuperSump is safe from an overflow due to blockage.
With their new pump in place and operational, these homeowners will never need to worry about an overflowing sump again. This basement should stay dry now for many years to come!
