Basement Kept Dry Using WaterGuard Piping in Bath, ME
Challenge
A homeowner in Bath, ME had been having trouble keeping their basement water-free. With water entering through the concrete foundation, there was little this homeowner could do to prevent any water damage to their property. Needing the water stopped before permanent damage was caused, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basemen Systems.
Solution
To put an end to the leaking water, the installation crew began work on this basement by digging a trench into the perimeter of the basement floor. This allowed them to then lay WaterGuard piping down into the trench, surrounding the basement floor. The WaterGuard was sealed in place with a fresh layer of cement. These pipes will now take in the water that slips through the concrete, preventing it from reaching the surface of this basement floor. With the WaterGuard in place, it was time to move onto the next installation.
The water trapped within the WaterGuard is guided beneath the floor to the sump where it is deposited for removal. This basement was without a sump pump however, which would be a problem if there was too much water being directed to the sump. To solve this potential problem, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump is a device which can force up to 2,650 gallons of water up and out of the home every hour. The water will exit through a PVC discharge line where it is carried out away from the home and released onto the ground.
This basement system will eliminate the flooding the has been occurring within this basement. The homeowner can now rest assured their home will remain free of water damage.
