WaterGuard Piping Protects Freeport, ME Basement From Flooding
Challenge
A homeowner in Freeport, ME had been experiencing troubles with their basement. Rainwater had been leaking in through the foundation, gathering on top of the floor in pools. Unable to stop this flooding alone, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to have the space waterproofed.
Solution
Once the TC Hafford installation crew arrived at the home they began work on the basement right away. Due to the porous nature of concrete, we needed to place a barrier within the floor itself. To do this, we dug a shallow trench into the perimeter of the basement floor. This trench was then filled with WaterGuard piping, as well as a fresh layer of concrete over the top. The WaterGuard piping will now act as this barrier, capturing any water traveling through the concrete from now on. The water trapped within the WaterGuard is then guided through the floor to the sump for removal.
With the WaterGuard directing the water to the sump, this home was going to need a pump to keep up with the flow. We installed a SuperSump sump pump to handle this. The SuperSump can move over 2,600 gallons of water every hour, more than enough power to keep up with any rainwater. To keep this pump operational under any conditions, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. The UltraSump will allow the SuperSump to keep removing water from the basement up to 11,000 gallons before requiring a charge.
This new basement system will now keep this basement completely free of water. This homeowner shouldn’t need to worry about rainwater ever again!
