WaterGuard Piping Keeps Water Out of Presque Isle, ME Basement
Challenge
A homeowner in Presque Isle, ME had been struggling to keep their basement free of water. The moisture would build up and was starting to create a musty smell in the space. To put an end to the smell and to keep the space free of water, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the crew arrived at the home, they got to work right away. With a concrete foundation, the water was leaking in directly through the floor. To stop this leakage through the concrete, we dug a trench into the basement floor, running around the perimeter. This trench then received a WaterGuard piping system. The pipes were buried beneath a fresh layer of cement where they will start to capture the water as it travels through, preventing it from reaching the surface.
The water follows the WaterGuard to the sump where it will be removed through the SuperSump sump pump. This will force the water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can handle any amount of water being handed to it, with a pumping force of over 2,600 gallons per hour. The water passes through an IceGuard pipe section attached to the discharge line just outside the home. The IceGuard has special holes built into it which will allow for trapped water to escape. This prevents an overflow in the sump by allowing for blocked water to escape in the event of an ice or debris blockage.
This brand-new basement system will now keep this basement free of water. The homeowner will no longer need to worry about moisture build up thanks to the WaterGuard piping.
