Kittery, ME Basement Kept Dry With WaterGuard Piping
Challenge
A homeowner in Kittery, ME had a concrete foundation beneath his home. His basement, however, was still taking on water even with this foundation in place. To have this leak addressed before they used the space for storage, this homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once the installation crew got to the home, they got to work right away. Because of the porous nature of concrete, outside water can still leak in. To prevent this, we began by digging a shallow trench into the basement floor. This trench runs the length of the perimeter of the floor. Within the trench, we laid down WaterGuard piping and covered it over with a fresh layer of cement. The WaterGuard will now take in any moisture leaking in through the foundation. No more moisture will be reaching this basement floor!
The water within the WaterGuard then travels through the piping to the sump for removal. To handle the removal process, we installed a SuperSump sump pump within the sump of the basement. The SuperSump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The water follows this line away from the home where it is deposited onto the ground a safe distance from the home.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner can now utilize their basement for storage without the fear of water damage. The WaterGuard piping will maintain a dry basement for this home for many years to come!
