WaterGuard Piping Protects Somersworth, NH Basement
Challenge
A homeowner in Somersworth, NH was looking to have their basement waterproofed. Worried any water leaking in could build up on the floor, the wanted the leak dealt with before it became a problem. To get this done, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems and we were on the job!
Solution
Once the crew arrived on the scene, they began by digging a shallow trench around the perimeter of the basement floor. They did this because concrete is naturally porous, allowing for water to leak through easily. In order to stop this, we needed to get between the outside and the inside. Within the trench, we installed WaterGuard piping around the basement, sealing it in with a fresh layer of cement. These pipes will now capture any moisture leaking in through the foundation, transporting it to the sump for removal.
To handle the water removal within this basement we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The WaterGuard will feed its collected water directly into this sump, where it will be forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can move up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. To keep the sump pumping even when the home loses power, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. This will enable the SuperSump to continue to remove up to 11,000 gallons before running out of charge.
With this new basement system in place, any worries the homeowner had can be put to rest. The WaterGuard piping is sure to keep this basement floor clear of water for many years to come!
