WaterGuard Piping Protects Biddeford, ME Basement From Water Damage
Challenge
A homeowner in Biddeford, ME was dealing with a problem in their basement. Water had been leaking in through the concrete foundation, which was something the homeowner was unable to deal with. Worried the water would begin to cause long-term to the damage to the home, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to solve the water problem.
Solution
Once our crew arrived, they got to work right away. With water leaking in through the pores of the concrete, to stop the flow, we needed to get inside the foundation. We began by digging a trench around the perimeter of the floor. With the trench dug, we then laid WaterGuard piping around the basement. The pipes were then buried beneath a fresh layer of cement to seal them within the floor. Under the surface, the WaterGuard will take in any water leaking through the foundation, trapping it within the pipes.
The trapped water is then guided through the WaterGuard to the sump where it will exit the basement. Because the existing sump in this basement had no pump, we installed a SuperSump sump pump to help keep up with the influx of water. This pump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour, more than enough power to ensure this basement stays water-free. The water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. It is carried out and away from the home, where it is deposited onto the ground. Here the water will no longer be able to affect this home in any negative way.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowners’ fear of water damage is a thing of the past. Thanks to the WaterGuard piping, this basement will stay dry for years to come!
