Damp Portsmouth, NH Basement Dried & Protected With WaterGuard
Challenge
A homeowner in Portsmouth, NH was living with a damp basement. The conditions were being caused by water leaking in directly through the concrete foundation. Unable to stop the water on their own, the homeowner needed professional help. To get the job done right, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our installation crew arrived at the home, they began work on the basement right away. In order to keep water from leaking in through the foundation, we needed to get inside the foundation. To start, we dug a shallow trench into the perimeter of the floor. Within this trench, we laid WaterGuard piping. These special pipes work from within the floor to capture water as it travels through, preventing it from ever reaching the surface. The pipes are buried beneath a fresh layer of cement to conceal them within the floor.
The water inside the WaterGuard is guided though the pipes to the sump for removal. Taking care of this, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. The water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Helping to keep the home water-free in any condition, we attached an UltraSump backup battery to the SuperSump. The UltraSump will tack on an extra 11,000 gallons worth of pumping power to the SuperSump before it requires a charge. This will keep the basement free of water even without power.
Finally, we had two last additions to make outside the home before we were finished. The first of these was an IceGuard pipe section. The IceGuard was attached just as the discharge line left the home. This will protect the sump from overflows if something were to block the line, such as ice. The line was then ended with a LawnScape discharge point. Here the water is let out onto the ground, far enough from the home to not cause any further problems for the homeowner.
With their new complete basement system in place, this homeowner will never need to worry about moisture accumulating in their basement again. This system will ensure this space remains dry for many years to come!
