WaterGuard Piping Keeps Bangor, ME Basement Safe From Leaks
Challenge
A homeowner in Bangor, ME had been struggling to pump water out of their basement. Not knowing how the water was finding its way inside, the homeowner had no way to stop the water before it had a chance to enter. Tired of manually pumping out water, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to have the space waterproofed.
Solution
Once our crew arrived at the home, it was obvious how the leakage was occurring. With a concrete foundation, moisture can seep in directly through the pores in the floor. To prevent this, we began by digging a trench around the perimeter of the basement floor. In this trench, we laid down WaterGuard piping. These pipes will now capture any moisture leaking in through the foundation, preventing it from collecting on the surface. The WaterGuard is buried beneath a fresh layer of cement to seal it within the floor.
With the WaterGuard in place, the water would now be collected within the pipes beneath the surface and guided to the sump for removal. To keep up with the water coming from the WaterGuard, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump will take in the gathered water, forcing it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. This device can keep the basement free of water in any amount of rain, boasting a pumping force of over 2,600 gallons of water every hour.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner can now relax during a rainstorm, knowing their basement will remain dry. The WaterGuard piping will keep water off of this basement floor for many years to come!
