Wet East Livermore, ME Basement Kept Dry With WaterGuard Piping
Challenge
A homeowner in East Livermore, ME had been having trouble keeping their basement free of water. No matter how much they pumped out the water, more kept finding its way in. To finally put an end to this need for pumping, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Due to the porous nature of concrete, it was no surprise this homeowner couldn’t keep their basement dry. Water would leak in directly through the foundation, which is very difficult for any typical homeowner to deal with. To prevent this, we buried 92 feet of WaterGuard piping beneath the perimeter of the basement floor. Underneath the surface, these pipes will let in and capture any and all water leaking in from the outside. This water is then guided through the WaterGuard to the sump for removal.
Within the sump, we installed a SmartSump sump pump. This device will handle the water-removal, forcing the water handed to it by the WaterGuard up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Outside the home, the water passes through an IceGuard pipe section which has built-in holes. These holes will not affect typical water flow, but it will allow for trapped water to escape in the event of a blockage in the line. This keeps the sump safe from overflows. Finally, the water exits the end of the line through a LawnScape discharge point where it is released far enough from the home to never cause any more problems for this homeowner.
Now that they have a proper basement system in place, this homes foundation will no longer be as susceptible to water leakage. Now this homeowner can rest assured their basement will remain dry thanks to the WaterGuard piping.
