TripleSafe Pump Keeps East Newport, ME Basement Dry
Challenge
A homeowner in East Newport, ME had a basement which would seemingly take on water after any rainfall. This was surprising to the homeowner because the sump they had didn’t seem to be doing its job. To remedy the situation the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our crew arrived at the home, it was obvious what the problem was. The existing sump would become overwhelmed by the water leaving the basement and overflow. To put an end to this, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device contains three pumps within it. The first pump handles the bulk of the water, forcing it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The second pump is a fallback for the primary in case it fails for any reason, this will continue to pump water while the primary is fixed. The third pump is a battery backup pump which will keep the basement water-free even when the home is without power.
Now that the water in the basement was being properly pumped out of the home, we needed to ensure it would continue pumping without fail. If ice were to block the PVC discharge line outside, this could also cause an overflow in the sump, to prevent this, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to the line just outside the home. This piece has holes built into it which will allow any trapped water to escape, but it will not affect the normal water flow. Finally, the water exits the line through a LawnScape discharge point at the end. Here it will drain away, never to bother this homeowner again.
Thanks to their new TripleSafe sump pump, this homeowner no longer needs to put up with a damp basement. Accumulated water should never again find a place in this East Newport, ME basement.
