Meddybemps, ME Basement Kept Water-Free With TripleSafe
Challenge
A homeowner in Meddybemps, ME was having problems keeping water off of their basement floor. Their current sump just wasn’t outputting water like it used to. To have the problem solved the right way, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
With a sump already existing in this basement, it made the installation of a new pump easier. To fix the problem this homeowner was having, we installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This sump holds three pumps within it. The first pump removes the bulk of the water needing removal. The second pump is there for when the primary pump either can’t keep up or fails for any reason. This allows repairs to be made without allowing for water to build up. The third and final pump is a battery-operated backup pump, which will switch on when the home is without power to maintain a dry floor.
The water exiting through the TripleSafe follows a PVC discharge line outside. This could be a problem, though, if ice were to block the line outside. This would cause a backup in the line, and potentially overflow the TripleSafe. To prevent this, we attached an IceGuard pipe segment to the discharge line just outside the home. This piece has holes built into it, which will allow any trapped water a route to escape through, without affecting the normal flow away from the home. This will ensure the basement remains dry year-round.
With a brand-new sump system in place, this homeowner can now expect to find a dry floor when they go down to their basement. The TripleSafe sump pump will ensure this basement floor remains dry in any weather.
