Trevett, ME Basement Given Proper Waterproofing With WaterGuard Piping
Challenge
A couple in Trevett, ME owned a basement which would take on water after any rainfall. This was a problem for the homeowners because they used the space for storage. Fearing water damage, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems to keep the water out and eliminate the risk of damage.
Solution
Once our crew arrived at the home, they started the waterproofing by digging out the outer edge of the basement floor. This trench through the concrete allowed them to then inlay our WaterGuard piping system. Buried under a fresh layer of cement, these pipes will capture any moisture traveling in through the foundation, preventing it from reaching the surface. This trapped water is then guided through the WaterGuard to the sump for removal.
To handle the water removal for this home, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This device will keep up with the amount of water being removed from this basement, boasting a pumping force of 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This water follows a PVC discharge line out of the home. With the floor moisture dealt with, the moisture in the air needed to be dealt with next. We installed a SaniDry CX dehumidifier to achieve this. The SaniDry will take in the surrounding air, remove the water, and pass it to the sump for removal. Then redistribute the dried air throughout the basement.
Outside the home, there were two final pieces the crew needed to install to finish this project. The first piece was an IceGuard pipe piece. This piece sits just outside the home, and has holes built into it. These holes will not affect the normal water flow exiting the home but will allow for blocked water to escape. This will prevent any potential overflows in the sump. Finally, a LawnScape discharge point was added to the end of the line. This piece is where the water exits back onto the ground a safe distance from the home.
With their new system in place, this couple will never again need to worry about any water damage to their stored belongings. The WaterGuard piping will keep this floor dry for many years to come!
