Moist Newry, ME Basement Kept Dry Using WaterGuard
Challenge
A homeowner in Newry, ME had been having trouble keeping their basement free of moisture. The water was coming from seemingly nowhere, and they had no idea how to stop it. To have the space protected from this incoming moisture, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
As soon as our crew arrived at the home, they began work right away. Because concrete is not completely waterproof on its own, the foundation of the home was where the water was entering through. To put an end to this, our crew dug out a trench around the perimeter of the floor. This is where they laid WaterGuard piping, burying it under a fresh layer of cement to seal it in place. Within the floor, these pipes will capture the water as it travels toward the interior of the space. This water will never again reach the surface of the floor, but instead it will be carried to the sump for removal.
To take on the increased concentration of water coming from the WaterGuard, this sump was going to need an upgrade. To achieve this, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump can move up over 2,600 gallons of water every hour. This power will ensure the basement remains free of water for the future. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The water is carried away from the home through this line and deposited onto the ground at a safe distance.
With this new system in place, the moisture gathering in this space will no longer bother this homeowner. Thanks to the WaterGuard, this basement will remain dry for years to come.
