Flooding Jackman, ME Home Protected With TripleSafe & SuperSump Pumps
Challenge
A homeowner from Jackman, ME had both a basement and a crawlspace which would regularly take on water during and after any rainfall. This was causing problems for the homeowner, such as mold growth. This water could also lead to water damage to the property. To get this problem dealt with professionally, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our crew arrived, they talked over with the homeowner what options would be best for waterproofing the two spaces. The homeowner made their decision and we got to work! First, in the crawlspace, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump is able to move over 2,600 gallons of water every hour. This much power is more than enough to keep this crawlspace water-free. This water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line.
Next, moving onto the basement, we got to work here by digging out another sump. Within this sump, we installed a TripleSafe. This device contains three individual pumps inside itself, each operating at different times to ensure this basement remains dry. The first, primary pump is on by default, handling the bulk of the water needing to be pumped from the home. The secondary pump kicks in when the primary fails for any reason and continues to pump the bulk of the water. The third and final pump activates if and when the home loses power; keeping the basement free of water even in the harshest weather conditions. The TripleSafe also pushes the water out of the home through the PVC discharge line.
Outside the home, our crew made two key additions to the discharge line before being finished with this job. The first of these two additions was an IceGuard pipe piece added onto the line right after it exits the home. This piece has holes built into it which do not affect typical water flow. The holes do, however, allow for trapped water to escape the line should a blockage occur which plugs up the line. This will prevent an overflow in the sumps. Finally, the line was ended with a LawnScape discharge point where the water exits onto the ground a safe distance from the home.
With these two new sump pumps in place, this home should no longer have any problems with taking on water. Now any water leaking into this home will be promptly swept away from the home.
