Damp Basement In Wayne, ME Dried With TripleSafe & SaniDry

Challenge

A homeowner in Wayne, ME had been having difficulties with dampness in his basement. This moisture could lead to problems for the homeowner, and he needed the problem solved ASAP. To have the basement protected from future moisture and to have the current dampness dealt with, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Solution

Since the basement in this particular case would have standing water regularly gather on the floor, we began by installed a TripleSafe sump pump. This device contains three individual pumps within it. The primary pump will handle the bulk of the water, while the secondary pump only activates to take over when the primary pump fails for any reason. The third and final pump is battery-operated and will take over the pumping when the power in the house goes out. The TripleSafe will force any water up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line.

Next, we needed to deal with the moisture already existing in the basement atmosphere. This moisture could support the growth of mold, which could pose serious health problems for the inhabitants of the home. To take care of this, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This dehumidifier will take in the air surrounding itself and pull the moisture from that air. The moisture will then be passed on to the sump for removal, while the dried air is circulated back into the basement. This will ensure the atmosphere within the basement remains dry and healthy.

Moving outside the home, the crew made two final additions to the discharge line before they were finished. The first was an IceGuard pipe piece to protect the TripleSafe from an overflow. The IceGuard has holes built into it which, while allowing water to flow normally from the home, will enable any blocked water to escape. The water then exits the line through a LawnScape discharge point. Here the water will drain away into the ground a safe distance from the home, never to cause problems for this homeowner again.

With their new systems in place, moisture problems are no longer a concern for this homeowner. Mold growth, and other issues will not be able to take root in this home thanks to the TripleSafe & SaniDry combination.
