Addison, ME Basement Protected From Damage By WaterGuard
Challenge
A homeowner in Addison, ME owned a basement which would leak after rainfall. This was surprising to the homeowner because their home had a concrete foundation. Unable to stop the water from entering, the homeowner called the professionals, TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our crew arrived at the home, their first task was to identify the source of the leak. Since the water had been leaking in directly through the concrete foundation, we had to install WaterGuard piping. These pipes are installed just beneath the surface of the concrete floor, around the perimeter of the basement. Buried beneath fresh cement, the WaterGuard pipes will capture any moisture leaking in through the foundation and guide it to the sump for removal.
With the WaterGuard in place, we installed a SuperSump sump pump to handle the water removal. The SuperSump can move up to 2,650 gallons of water every hour. This water gets forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Traveling through this line, the water passes through an IceGuard pipe segment just outside the home. This piece has angled holes which do not affect normal water flow but will allow trapped water to escape; Preventing an overflow in the sump. The water then exits onto the ground through a LawnScape discharge point.
With the new basement system in place, no more water will be building up on this homeowners’ basement floor. They will no longer need to worry about water damage! After exiting the discharge line, the water will no longer be able to reach the home to cause any further problems.
