Leaking Milbridge, ME Basement Sealed The Right Way
Challenge
A homeowner in Milbridge, ME was having trouble with water leaking into their basement through two cracks in the walls. This could cause problems such as water damage or mold growth. To prevent any of these problems and keep their property safe the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our crew arrived, their first priority was determining the best solution to the problem. Due to the nature of the two cracks in the basement walls we were going to need to utilize two separate methods to fix them. The first crack we used FlexiSpan. To install this, we brushed the crack clear of debris and laid an initial layer of sealant inside. We then covered this layer with a foam mat. This mat gives the FlexiSpan its flexibility, allowing it to conform to any shifts in the crack alignment. Finally, we applied another layer of sealant over the top of the mat to finish the FlexiSpan.
For the next crack, we needed to use a Polyurethane Injection. To do this, we again brushed the crack clear of debris and applied a base layer of sealant over the top of the crack. While laying down this layer, we placed plastic plugs incrementally up the crack. After this layer dried, we opened the ends of the plugs and injected polyurethane inside. This will spread throughout the crack and harden in place to completely seal out moisture. The ends of the plugs are then replaced, and the crack is sealed!
Without a way into the basement, moisture will no longer be a problem for this homeowner. Water damage or mold growth will no longer be a threat!
