Leaking Plymouth, ME Home Waterproofed Properly
Challenge
A homeowner in Plymouth, ME had been having trouble with water leaking into their crawlspace. This water was propagating a smell into the home and needed to be stopped. Also looking to have their basement improved before they finished the space, they came to the only company they could think of to complete both tasks; TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our crew arrived at the home, they began work on the crawlspace first. With dirt walls and a dirt floor, the space was an easy target for moisture and needed a barrier put in place to keep the water out. To achieve this, we encapsulated the crawlspace in a CleanSpace liner. This liner covers all four walls as well as the floor in a thin plastic sheet. This will completely lock out any and all moisture that would have otherwise easily leaked into the space. Without any moisture entering the space, the smell problem had been taken care of.
Next, to help the homeowner finish their basement, our crew moved on to work on that space. Even though the walls surrounding the basement were part of the concrete foundation, this material is still permeable to water. Fearing possible moisture build-up on these walls affecting the atmosphere in the basement, the homeowner needed a way to keep water away from the air. We installed BrightWall tiles across the walls to do just this. These plastic panels cover the concrete, holding back any water as well as giving the basement a bright, clean finish. This will help maintain a healthy atmosphere in the basement.
With their new products in place, this homeowner will no longer need to fear moisture entering their home. No water will be collecting in this home any time soon!
