WaterGuard Piping Protects Nobleboro, ME Basement From Water Damage
Challenge
A homeowner in Nobleboro, ME had a basement which would regularly take on water. After a heavy rainfall, water would accumulate in the basement and sit on top of the floor. This concerned the homeowner, and they contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to have the problem fixed right away.
Solution
Once our crew arrived at the home, their first task was to identify how the moisture was entering the basement in the first place. This would help us decide the best course of action for resolving the problem. Since the water was coming in directly through the concrete foundation, we buried WaterGuard piping beneath the surface of the floor around the perimeter of the basement. These pipes, within the floor, will capture moisture trying to travel through the foundation and guide it to the sump for removal. Now no more water will gather on the surface of this basement floor.
Because the sump in this basement wasn’t able to keep up with the amount of water entering, we installed a SuperSump sump pump which the WaterGuard feeds into. This pump can move over 2,600 gallons of water every hour and forces this water out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Following this line outside, we made two additions before this job was finished. The first was an IceGuard pipe section added just outside the home. The holes built into this piece allow water blocked by ice or other debris to escape without causing an overflow in the sump. The line was then ended with a LawnScape discharge point. This is where the water exits onto the ground a safe distance from the home.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner should no longer find standing water gathered in their basement. Thanks to the WaterGuard piping, this basement will remain dry for many years to come!
