WaterGuard Protects Machias, ME Basement From Moisture

Challenge

With plans to finish their basement, a Machias, ME homeowner was struggling to eliminate a moisture problem they were having. Moisture was somehow entering the basement, and this would prevent any long-term usage due to potential for water damage. To have the space waterproofed prior to finishing, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.

Solution

Once our crew arrived, they inspected the basement to locate the cause of the moisture build-up. After finding the cause of the problem, they got started with the fix! Because the water was entering through the foundation itself, we installed WaterGuard piping just beneath the surface of the floor. These pipes run around the outside perimeter of the floor and will capture any water entering the basement through the concrete. This trapped water flows through the pipes to the existing sump in the basement for removal. Now no more moisture will be coming in through this floor to cause problems for the homeowner.

To help the WaterGuard operate and help finish the basement, we installed BrightWall panels around the basement. These panels cover all of the walls and are plain white to brighten up the space while the backside of the panels will condensate any moisture coming through the walls. This collected water falls down into the WaterGuard to be carried away. The final addition we made was a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. This will take any and all moisture out of the air in the space. This will keep the atmosphere in the basement dry and healthy for future use.

This new basement system will ensure the homeowner can finish their basement without trouble from water in the future. Now water damage is a thing of the past for this homeowner!
