West Boothbay Harbor, ME Basement Kept Dry With WaterGuard

Challenge

A homeowner in West Boothbay Harbor, ME who was unable to keep their basement water-free on their own was seeking ways to have the space waterproofed. Tired of putting up with the wet conditions, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems to have the space kept dry for good.

Solution

To put an end to the water entering this basement, once our crew arrived, their first task was digging out a trench running along the perimeter of the basement floor. After this trench was dug, we laid WaterGuard piping down inside. This piping was then covered over with a fresh layer of cement. Once inside the floor, the pipes capture moisture as it travels in from the surrounding soil, trapping it and guiding to the sump for removal. With the WaterGuard in place, no more moisture will gather on the surface of this floor.

To remove the captured water, we installed a SmartDrain system which takes in the water from the WaterGuard. Here, the water flows out of the basement through a discharge line, moving away from the home, never to bother this homeowner again. With the WaterGuard and SmartDrain handling the floor based moisture, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier to take care of the airborne moisture. The SaniDry takes in the surrounding air, pulls the moisture out of it, and passes the water on to the SmartDrain for removal. The dried air is then circulated back into the space to continue the process.

With these products in place and working seamlessly together, this basement should remain dry for years to come! This homeowner can now rest assured their basement will be dry after a rainstorm.
