umberland Foreside, ME Basement Receives Automated Removal System
Challenge
A homeowner in Cumberland Foreside, ME had been having trouble keeping their basement floor dry. Needing to pump any water out manually during exceptionally heavy storms, this homeowner was seeking ways to have the space pumped autonomously. To get the job done right, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once we arrived at the home, we first needed to locate where the moisture was entering through. With the entry point located, we were able to begin working. To stop moisture from leaking into this basement, we needed to stop it from traveling through the concrete foundation itself. Luckily for this homeowner, TC Hafford has just the fix. We installed 196 feet of WaterGuard piping inside the floor, around the perimeter. This concealed piping will now capture any water trying to sneak into the basement from the surrounding soil. Once inside, the water is trapped and guided to the sump for removal.
Taking care of the water evacuation, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This machine will take in the collected water, and force it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. Once outside the home, the water passes through two key components to keep things running smooth. The first is the IceGuard pipe segment just on the exterior of the home. This special piece of piping has holes built into it which do not affect normal water flor. However, these holes will allow for water blocked by debris to escape before reaching the sump and backing it up, causing an overflow. Finally, the water exits through the LawnScape discharge point on the end of the line.
With their new basement system in place, this homeowner now has a dry basement floor. Their days of manual pumping are over!
