WaterGuard Protects Kittery Point, ME Basement
Challenge
A homeowner in Kittery Point, ME had been dealing with a wet basement for some time. They were tired of pumping the water out every time it would rain, and desperately wanted an automated system put in place. To have this job done, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
To put an end to the homeowner water problem, we first needed to identify the source of the moisture. With water coming in through the concrete foundation itself, we needed to stop it in its path. To do this, we installed 224 feet of WaterGuard piping around the perimeter of the floor. These pipes sit in between the outside soil, and the interior of the basement. As water travels between, it is captured by the WaterGuard before it can reach the surface. This will ensure the floor stays dry while the water is carried away to the sump for removal.
Handling the evacuation of the water, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump can move over 2,600 gallons of water per hour, plenty of power to rid this basement of all the collected water. The water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line, where it is let out back onto the ground a safe distance from the home. The water exits through a LawnScape discharge point. On its way to the end of the line, the water passes through an IceGuard pipe piece. This piece has holes built in to allow trapped water to escape. This prevents an overflow in the sump if the discharge line becomes blocked by ice or other debris.
With their new automated basement system in place, this homeowner no longer needs to lift a finger after a heavy rain! Thanks to the WaterGuard piping system, their basement should stay dry for years to come.
