East Waterboro, ME Basement Protected From Water Damage Via WaterGuard
Challenge
A couple in East Waterboro, ME had a very damp basement. Unable to rid themselves of the moisture, they sought professional help. After a short period of searching, they found TC Hafford Basement Systems and called us to get the job done!
Solution
Once our crew arrived, the first order of business was to locate the source of the moisture. This was the foundation, due to a phenomenon that occurs when the hydrostatic pressure in the surrounding soil becomes too high. If this happens, water is forced in through tiny holes and cracks in the concrete, where it leaks into the basement. To stop this from reoccurring, we installed 118 feet of WaterGuard piping around the perimeter of the basement floor. These pipes sit just beneath the surface of the floor. Inside the foundation, the WaterGuard traps the moisture traveling from the outside, preventing it from reaching the surface. The water is passed to the sump for removal.
To handle the removal of the water for this basement, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take in the water from the WaterGuard, and force it up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can handle over 2,600 gallons of water per hour, more than enough power to keep this basement water-free. Finally, to deal with the water floating around in the air, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. The SaniDry will take in the moist air around itself, and remove the moisture. The collected water is then passed to the sump for removal, while the dry air is pumped back into the basement to allow for more moist air to be treated.
Now this couple can utilize this basement however they please! Water damage is no longer a concern with their new basement system in place.
