Cape Neddick, ME Basement Given Proper Waterproofing With WaterGuard
Challenge
A homeowner in Cape Neddick, ME was having trouble keeping water out of his basement. It wasn’t just collecting on the floor, it had been filling the air as well, spreading a musty smell throughout the home. To put an end to this, the homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once our crew arrived, they began waterproofing the floor of the space to keep moisture levels to a minimum. We installed a 125-foot WaterGuard piping system first, which ran along the edge of the basement floor. The WaterGuard pipes capture moisture as it travels through the foundation, and transports it to the sump for removal. To handle this removal, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump can move up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour, which it forces out of the home through the PVC discharge line.
To help keep the SuperSump running in the harshest storms, we attached an UltraSump backup battery to it. The UltraSump gives the SuperSump an extra 11,000 gallons worth of life if the home loses power. This should keep the basement water-free even without power in the home. Finally, to handle the airborne moisture, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier. The SaniDry takes in the moist air, and pulls the water out of it. The water is then passed on to the sump for removal while the dry air circulates back into the basement.
With a basement system in place, this homeowner should have a dry basement in no time. The WaterGuard system is sure to keep this basement water-free for years to come!
