Howland, ME Basement Kept Dry With The Help Of WaterGuard
Challenge
A wet basement can cause several problems for any homeowner. This homeowner in Howland, ME was experiencing that first hand. Sick of dealing with the moisture on their own, they called in the professionals, TC Hafford Basement Systems, to have the basement waterproofed properly.
Solution
With moisture leaking in directly through the foundation, it was no wonder why this homeowner was having trouble with their basement. To put an end to this leaking, we needed to install our WaterGuard piping. These pipes sit just beneath the surface of the floor, buried under a fresh layer of cement. The WaterGuard pipes capture the moisture as it travels through the concrete, guiding the collected water away before it can reach the surface. This water then ends up in the sump, where it will be removed from the basement before it can cause any harm.
To assist the sump in the removal of the water, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. A device that can move 2,650 gallons of water per hour. The water is forced up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line, which has two key features to keep the process running smoothly. Just as the line exits the home, there is an IceGuard attached. This is a special segment of pipe with holes that only allow for blocked water to pass through. This prevents an overflow in the sump if ice were to seal up the exit. Finally, the water is let out onto the ground a safe distance from the home through the LawnScape discharge point. This water should never be able to reach the home again.
With a basement system in place, this homeowner is now free to utilize their basement. Without the need to fear water damage, the sky is the limit!
