Much Needed Basement System Saves Searsmont, ME Basement From Water Damage
Challenge
A couple in Searsmont, ME was having difficulty keeping their basement water free. After trying for several weeks on their own to remove the water, they decided it was finally time to have it waterproofed professionally.
Solution
Once our crew arrived at the home, they needed to determine the best course of action. With water coming in directly through the foundation itself, it was no surprise the homeowners were having trouble. To counter the water traveling through the concrete, we dug out a shallow trench around the perimeter, and laid WaterGuard piping within. The trench was then covered with a fresh layer of cement to conceal it without hindering its function. The WaterGuard captures the water as it travels through the foundation, preventing it from reaching the surface. This trapped water is then guided through the pipes to the sump where it will be removed.
To help the existing sump in this basement keep up with the flow of water coming from the WaterGuard, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump will force the water up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line, where it will pass through an IceGuard pipe piece before ending at a LawnScape discharge point. The IceGuard is a section that is located just outside the home, and has built in holes which do not typically affect water flow. But if a blockage occurs lower in the pipe, the IceGuard allows the trapped water to escape before it can backup and overflow the sump pump. Finally, the water exits through the LawnScape. This is where the water is let out onto the ground, a safe distance from the home.
Now this couple will never need to manually remove water again. Thanks to their new basement system, their wet basement troubles are a thing of the past!
