Bradley, ME Basement Waterproofed With WaterGuard
Challenge
A wet basement plagued this Bradley, ME homeowner. Unable to stop the water themselves, they called in the professionals, TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once at the home, our crew needed to begin by identifying where the moisture was entering through. In this particular basement, the water would enter through the foundation, and underneath a door leading outside from the basement. In order to deal with the water coming in through the foundation, we dug out a trench running around the perimeter of the basement. We then laid our WaterGuard piping inside this trench. The piping is then covered over with a fresh layer of cement. The WaterGuard captures any moisture traveling through the foundation, preventing it from ever reaching the surface. This trapped water is then guided to the sump for removal.
Next, to deal with the water coming in underneath the door, we added a segment onto the WaterGuard which rests level with the surface of the floor known as a TrenchDrain. This drain sits beneath the door, with holes in the top to allow any water to drop down into the WaterGuard beneath. Because the sump in this basement was going to be receiving an increased amount of water from the WaterGuard, it was going to need a pump that could keep up. To handle the water, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump can handle up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour. The water is pumped up and out of the home through a PVC discharge line, where it is carried a safe distance before being released onto the ground.
Now this homeowner is free of their wet basement. Thanks to the WaterGuard, water will no longer be a problem within this Bradley, ME basement.
