WaterGuard Protects Leaky Hudson, ME Basement
Challenge
A leaking basement can be a problem for any homeowner, especially when the leak is coming directly through the concrete foundation. Unsure how to stop this leakage themselves, this couple in Hudson, ME called TC Hafford Basement Systems to get the job done.
Solution
Once our crew arrived at the home, they began working on the basement waterproofing. First, they dug a trench around the perimeter of the basement floor, running along the walls. This trench was then filled with our WaterGuard piping and a top layer of cement. WaterGuard piping works within the foundation, capturing the moisture as it travels through the concrete. The water captured by the WaterGuard is then guided through the pipes to the sump where it will be removed from the basement.
Because this sump had no pump and was going to be receiving an increased amount of water from the WaterGuard, it was going to need an upgrade. We installed a SuperSump sump pump to do just that. Capable of pumping 2,650 gallons of water per hour, the SuperSump should be able to keep up with all the water coming from the WaterGuard. The water exits the sump through a PVC discharge line which carries the water out and away from the home. Just outside the home, we attached an IceGuard to this pipe. The IceGuard is a pipe section with holes built in to allow and blocked water to escape in the event of a clog. This prevents an overflow in the sump. We then ended the line with a LawnScape discharge point and we were finished.
With their new basement system in place and working properly, there was no storm that could overpower the SuperSump. This Hudson, ME couple no longer need to worry about a leaking basement during a storm.
