WaterGuard Prevents Flooding In Dresden, ME Basement
Challenge
A wet basement plagued this Dresden, ME basement. Not able to handle all of the water by themselves, the homeowner contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems. We were at the home shortly after to give them a properly waterproofed basement.
Solution
Upon arriving at the property, our crew needed to identify the main cause of the flooding. The water was entering through the foundation itself, when the water pressure in the surrounding soil became high enough. This is a nearly impossible to deal with problem for any typical homeowner. Our crew installed WaterGuard piping, which would handle the issue no problem. These pipes rest just under the surface of the floor, capturing the moisture before it reaches the surface. This captured water is then guided to the sump for removal.
To handle the removal of the water, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will take in the water handed to it by the WaterGuard and force it up and out of the basement through a PVC discharge line. The SuperSump can move over 2,600 gallons of water per hour, which will be more than enough to handle any typical rainstorm. On the outside of the home, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece to the discharge line. This piece prevents an overflow in the sump by allowing any water trapped within the pipe to escape through holes in the side of the IceGuard. We then finished the line with a LawnScape discharge point and we were done. The LawnScape releases the water onto the ground a safe distance from the home, never to bother the homeowner again.
Now the homeowner can sit back and relax during a rainstorm, without worrying about their basement flooding. Their new WaterGuard piping will keep their basement dry for years to come.
