WaterGuard Maintains Dry Basement For Corinna, ME Homeowner
Challenge
A homeowner in Corinna, ME was tired of dealing with their wet basement. Seeking ways to have it properly waterproofed, they found TC Hafford Basement Systems. After we received the call we were on the job!
Solution
Once we were at the home, we needed to determine the main entry point of the water. After doing so, we were able to choose the best waterproofing method for the space. Since the water was entering through the foundation itself, we needed to install WaterGuard piping. These special pipes are buried underneath the perimeter of the floor and are covered over with a fresh coat of cement. The WaterGuard captures water within the foundation, never allowing it to reach the surface of the floor. This water is then guided to the sump for evacuation.
To help the sump keep up with the influx of water coming from the WaterGuard, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump can handle up to 2,600 gallons of water per hour. The water is forced out of the home through a PVC discharge line, which once outside the home, has special attachments to help keep things running smoothly. The first of these attachments is an IceGuard segment added onto the pipe. This piece is built with holes which allow water to escape the line, but only when a clog occurs. This prevents overflowing in the sump, while not affecting normal water flow. The final piece was the LawnScape discharge point added onto the end of the line. This is where the water is let out onto the ground a safe distance from the home.
Now this homeowner has found the basement waterproofing they were looking for. They will never need to deal with this wet basement again!
