Damariscotta, ME Basement Kept Dry By WaterGuard
Challenge
A wet basement plagued this Damariscotta, ME homeowner. Not knowing how to stop the water on their own, they needed professional help. They called TC Hafford Basement Systems to finally rid themselves of their wet basement.
Solution
Once our crew was on the scene, they needed to determine the best course of action to take. This comes down to where the water is entering through. Because the water is coming in directly through the foundation, we needed to install our WaterGuard piping. To do so, we dug out a trench around the perimeter of the basement floor. Within this trench, we laid our WaterGuard piping system, covering it over with a fresh layer of cement. These pipes act once inside the foundation, and will capture the moisture as it travels through. Now no more moisture will reach the surface with the WaterGuard in place. The water trapped within this piping is then guided to the sump for removal.
To help the sump keep up with the increased flow of water from the WaterGuard, we installed a SuperSump sump pump. This pump will be more than enough to handle the water, capable of moving 2,650 gallons of water per hour out of the home through the PVC discharge line. The water passes through an IceGuard pipe section on the outside of the home to help keep the system running smoothly. This section has special holes which will allow water to escape if a blockage occurs, thus preventing the sump from overflowing. Finally, we installed a SaniDry XP and we were finished. The SaniDry will remove the moisture from the air to keep the basement smelling pleasant and mold free.
With a proper basement system in place, this homeowner will never experience a wet basement again. They can no use this space for whatever they please without fear of water damage.
