WaterGuard & SuperSump Save Flooding Jefferson, ME Basement
Challenge
Joe from Jefferson, ME was in trouble. His basement was taking on water and he couldn’t stop it. To put a swift end to his moisture problems, he called TC Hafford Basement Systems.
Solution
Once we arrived at the home, the first order of business was to identify the source of the moisture. This will help us figure out what needs to be done to stop the water. This basement suffered from a leak in the foundation. To prevent water from further entering through the floor, we installed our WaterGuard piping system around the perimeter. These pipes sit just below the surface, and intercept the moisture before it reaches the surface. The WaterGuard is buried under a fresh coat of cement and it is ready to function!
Next, we needed to upgrade the sump in the space. With the WaterGuard capturing so much moisture, without a power-boost, the current sump might not be able to keep up. We installed a SuperSump sump pump to handle this water. The SuperSump can pump over 2,600 gallons of water per hour out of the home through the PVC discharge line. To keep this sump operating year-round, the discharge line received an IceGuard segment on the exterior of the home. This segment is constructed with holes which don’t normally affect the water flow. But in the event of a blockage in the pipe, the trapped water is able to escape through the holes. This prevents a backup in the sump, which would overflow and flood the basement all over again.
With their new WaterGuard & SuperSump basement system in place, this homeowner can expect a dry basement from now on! No more coming down stairs to damp conditions!
