SuperSump Empties Flooding Readfield, ME Basement
Challenge
A homeowner in Readfield, ME contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems to have their basement cleared of water. They had been having pools of water form on the floor, and wanted to be rid of this issue. We sent our crew over and got to work!
Solution
Upon arriving at the home, we needed to determine the natural low point of the space. This is where any water entering the space tends to pool up. This is where we created a sump and installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump will be more than enough to keep any water at bay, capable of removing 2,650 gallons of water per hour. To keep this pump going even in the heaviest storms, we attached an UltraSump backup battery. This gives the SuperSump an extra 11,000 gallons worth of electricity if the home loses power.
The water being removed from the basement exits through a PVC discharge line, which also serves a purpose in keeping this basement water-free. Just as the line leaves the home, we attached an IceGuard section. This pipe is designed with holes in it to allow for trapped water to escape. This will keep the SuperSump safe from an overflow if the discharge line becomes blocked. We then ended the line with a LawnScape discharge point a safe distance from the home. This will deposit the water far enough away that it will no longer be able to affect the home.
Now that this homeowner has a proper sump system in place, their basement will remain water free for years to come! Even a storm large enough to knock out this homes power will not be able to overpower this system.
