TripleSafe Protects Manchester, ME Basement From Water Damage
Challenge
This couple in Manchester, ME had a basement which would often gather pools of water during rain. With no system in place to remove the water, any water removal was done by hand. To keep their basement dry and save them a lot of effort in the future, they contacted TC Hafford Basemen Systems to solve their wet basement problem.
Solution
Once our crew arrived, they began work by upgrading the sump in the space. Without a pump, this sump was just not living up to its potential. We installed a TripleSafe sump pump to take care of this. The TripleSafe contains three pumps, which operate at different times to keep the basement dry during any situation. The primary and secondary pumps handle the majority of the water; Where the secondary pump only activates in the event of the primary failing. The third pump is a battery backup pump, which activates if/when the home loses power. These three pumps working together will be sure to keep the basement water free.
The water being removed by the sump exits through a PVC discharge line. Following this line outside, our crew made a few additions to keep everything flowing smoothly. First, we attached an IceGuard pipe piece immediately outside the home. This will ensure water is able to exit the pipe should a blockage occur in the pipe. With holes built into it, the IceGuard protects the TripleSafe from backing up due to ice or debris. Finally, we added a LawnScape discharge point to the end of the line. This is the end point for the water leaving the basement, where it is let back out onto the ground. At this distance from the home, the water will not be able to make its way back to the basement.
This new basement system will surely keep this couple’s basement dry for years to come! It would take quite the outstanding storm to overpower the TripleSafe sump pump.
